James 1:5 (NIV)
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
I desire to better recognize and so delight in recognizing your voice in my world and your will for my life.
Open me, Lord, to your voice and patterns in my life that I might better hear and follow your directions.
Slow me in my prayers that I might allow you the time to spiritually nudge me to your way.
Grant me the wisdom and patience to wait upon you before I rush into judgment and decisions.
Save me from the maps and plans for my life so that I might better follow you in all those unplanned ways.
Clarify the motivations of my life, Lord, that I might recognize the true sources of deep gladness from the coveting of my heart.
Reconcile the differences of my mind and heart when making decisions so that I might save myself from the trap of accomplishments.
Teach me above all things to pursue that alone which attaches me to your will and love. AMEN
Having prayed this prayer…
Don’t rush the decisions you need to make; especially those concerning God’s will.
Practice attending to both your feelings and your thoughts to ensure they support one another.
Periodically, retreat that you might better review the goals and ambitions of your life.
Attend to the desires that God has placed deep within you.
Recognize those prejudices, attitudes and lack of faith that interfere with your decisions for Christ and submit them before the Lord.
